Overview
“Incredibly well delivered, professional and pitched well for audience. A good balance of adult learning techniques – theory, group / pair discussions, practise, breaks, re-focusing. Fantastic Day! Many thanks. :-)”

There is a growing concern in the health sector that healthcare professionals and support people are experiencing increasing problems from workload stress. Survey results are showing that illness (causing sick-leave), and burnout is prevalent, along with other ‘side-effects’ such as: compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma and change anxiety.
More needs to be done to address and support our health workers in their own self-care so they can continue to maintain a quality healthcare service in our communities. Innervate has developed an effective training workshop to better equip all healthcare workers and support people with practical strategies to improve their day-to-day well-being and performance.
The Self-Care in Health Care Workshop presents ideas in cognitive psychology and uses a context-specific approach to help alleviate stress, anxiety, and exhaustion and return more balance to life, both personally and professionally.
OVERVIEW
This informative and interactive one-day or half-day workshop will help participants:
- Identify the symptoms, sources and psychology of their stress and why stress affects people differently.
- Understand how their mind works and how specific attitudes, beliefs and habits keep them locked into unhelpful and sometimes aggressive ways of behaving.
- Discover the one key self-care principle that underpins all stress-reduction strategies to rapidly improve reactions, recovery and resilience.
- Practise a range of coping strategies that improve well-being, including: reframing, managing emotions, affirmations, mental rehearsal, assertive communication, solution-focus, energy management, mental stillness, quick relaxation techniques and a host of others that can be practised after the workshop.
- Set self-care goals, both professionally and personally and discuss how to create a team culture that prioritises personal well-being as a professional competency.
DETAILS
Self-Care in Healthcare is a full-day, or half-day, workshop or webinar suitable for all people working in the healthcare and care industries.
The workshop has a strong focus on improving relationships (a major source of stress), and is supported by free access to InnervatePLUS, an online members’ area containing a library of articles, videos and audio files designed to assist in continuing the education after any workshop or presentation. An on-line link will be provided after attending Self-care in Healthcare for participants to access the full-day workshop video clips to later refresh the ideas.
The Self-care in Healthcare programme also includes short in-house seminars, online webinars and key-note conference presentations for different professions.
Please enquire about our short 1-hour webinars on compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, change anxiety and burnout prevention.
There is also a workshop for whole teams where the pressure may have caused unhelpful behaviours to erode team trust. ‘Team Works’ is a half-day workshop that enables difficult situations to be addressed through a non-threatening supportive conversation and finishes with the construction of a Team Charter of Behaviours to help keep everyone on track.
If I could recommend any positive action to improve inter-collegial working relationships, then I would recommend the self-care workshop not only for those who might be vulnerable to bullying, but also for those who are currently effecting the current workforce.
